FOUNDATION SAFETY AND RESCUE TRAINING

 

The objective of this course is to teach simple and safe skills that can be applied appropriately in all types of craft.

 

Course Aims:  The course aims to provide the student with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely in a sheltered water environment and to be able to deal with common emergencies.These skills will then form the basis of all safety and rescue training throughout the BC Scheme.

 

The course has two purposes:

 

1. To provide the paddler with the necessary skills which will enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and others.

 

2. To provide the paddler with the appropriate rescue skills which can be used to help themselves and/or others in difficulty.

 

 

Participants need to be 14 years of age to attend the course and have all the relevant

BRITISH CANOEING SAFETY and RESCUE COURSES - More Information

WHITE WATER SAFETY AND RESCUE

 

The WWS&R training course is designed for all paddlers operating in a moderate to advanced white water environment in either kayak or canoe. The training is required for those seeking their 4 star leader (white water or open canoe) award.

 

The objective is to provide the underpinning knowledge and teach simple and safe practical skills that can be applied appropriately. By it’s nature the course is very ‘hands on’ and should not usually contain much classroom work.

 

Course Aims:

 

â—¾ To improve individuals awareness of safety skills in the river environment.

 

â—¾ To teach personal survival skills.

 

â—¾ To teach throwline rescue techniques.

 

To understand the need for structure in an emergency situation.

 

â—¾ To outline basic rescue protocols that prioritise the safety of the individual above all others.

 

◾ To introduce & develop the ‘clean rope’ principle.

 

 

Participants need to be 16 years of age to attend the course and have all the relevant
